Local Representative Discusses the State of Global Cybersecurity and Defending Organizations Against Email-borne Attacks with Leader in Human Phishing Defense Solutions

LEESBURG, VA – January 20, 2016 – PhishMe® Inc., the pioneer in human-phishing defense solutions, today received a visit from United States Congresswoman Barbara Comstock to discuss the top cybersecurity threats facing the country. A representative of the 10th District of Virginia, Comstock met with the PhishMe team to tour its Loudoun County-based headquarters and exchange insights on the biggest issues impacting national cybersecurity today.

Comstock, also a member of the Science, Space and Technology Committee where she serves as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Research and Technology, is a vocal advocate for cybersecurity legislation, particularly as the global security issues continue to heat up and impact both government and enterprise organizations. She was among the many government officials to receive a letter from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) notifying her that she may have had her personal information compromised or stolen as the result of the massive OPM data breach. Following the breach, Comstock called for the administration to make cybersecurity issues “a leadership priority” and vowed to do the same in her role within congress.

“Having personally felt the fear associated with the OPM breach, I am passionate about connecting with cybersecurity organizations in my district, like PhishMe, that have the ability to defend against these attacks,” said Congresswoman Comstock. “The scale of recent data breaches has caused cybersecurity issues to take center-stage within the federal government. It is important that we as government officials do everything we can to equip our organizations with the defense necessary to prevent large scale cyberattacks. PhishMe has a place on the front lines of this effort – conditioning the broader community to recognize potential cyber threats and significantly decreasing the risk of a breach.”

During her visit, Comstock toured the PhishMe headquarters and sat down with company executives and staff to get a sense of how PhishMe is equipping its customers to defend against email-borne phishing attacks through the conditioning of employees. In addition, Comstock took questions from PhishMe’s employees about the effects of privacy laws on the IT security industry, growth of the tech industry in Loudon County and how the county plans to build out infrastructure to support the growth.

“We are privileged to have the opportunity to provide Representative Comstock with a behind-the-scenes look at PhishMe,” said Aaron Higbee, CTO and co-founder at PhishMe. “In the wake of several major global security breaches, it’s important our representatives understand the significant impact that emerging technologies can have on matters of national cybersecurity, and the importance of leveraging all available resources, including employees, to equip enterprise and public sector organizations.”

In the last year, PhishMe’s world-class solution has emerged as a dominant force in the phishing threat management space and was recently honored as a finalist for SC Magazine’s Best IT Security-Related Training Platform. These achievements combined with an impressive customer roster that includes almost half of the Fortune 100, has cemented PhishMe’s position as an innovator at the forefront of anti-phishing technologies.
